Thought I would share the vintage Santa box (above) I got some embroidery thread in at the thrift store. Isn't he wonderful, the kind of thing I grew up seeing at Christmas.
Here is my December TUSAL update, this is what I did with my orts. It's a borrowed idea and a wonderful one. With these plastic ornaments I can change out the contents any time I choose, keep adding orts or whatever.
This is what I have been working on this week. I picked up a huge container of yarn balls at my favorite charity shop back in the fall and I am using the whites and pastels to knit a simple garter stitch afghan. When the ball runs out I just add another color on and go again. The Springtime Easter colors are making me happy and it gives my hands something to do at night and uses up yarn that would most likely have gotten thrown away.
Here's another thrift shop find, a beautifully stitched project never completed. I will need to find something to go in the middle, but that should not be an issue. This pretty lacy border will work with many cross stitch patterns I already have.
I love all things medieval and I picked up these gorgeous glasses at one of my 2 favorite thrift stores, There are 5 tall ones and 3 short ones in this blue and green with real gold. They are signed by some designer and I just love them.
And speaking of blue and gold medieval items...
Check out this bedspread! At least I think it was meant to be a bedspread, its about 8 x 10! I was going to hang it on one of the living room walls medieval style, but its so large I don't think that will work, so I am still trying to figure out what to do with it. It may be silk but it could be rayon, and since it has never been used it is obvious the person who owned it didn't know what to do with it either. Now before you say use it as a bedspread, let me tell you we only have a smaller than twinsize sleeping bench for Charles and I sleep in a Lazyboy because of my bad back. Not a real bed in sight here.
And here's my other recent find! A wonderful, in perfect condition sofa cover in just the right color! This poor old vintage sofa is in need of a complete overhaul as springs are sprung and the uphostelry is in shreds but this makes it look great for now. And for $10 you can't beat it.

Well, off to mail some Etsy items and do a little housework and then probably some more knitting. At least we have sunshine after tornado watches and thunderstorms and deluges of rain all night. But that's the Texas Gulf Coast for you.

ummm... the only bathroom it would match would be the resident poet's...I think not.
I remember that bathroom--you're right--wouldn't work there. However I have no doubt you will find the ideal place or way to utilize it to its full potential. You're very clever like that

I'm thinking the "bedspread" might be an extra large tablecloth...and couldn't you hang it over a dowel with half hanging down behind, or swagged at a window or something? It's beautiful and ought to be displayed!

Wow, Love the bedspread. I'm all for hanging it on dowel but I don't think I'd make it into a window covering as the sun will damage it too much, and it's way too beautiful for that! I can still see it as a wall hanging, though. Hang it on that dowel with the leftover bit on the front, sort of making a natural valance on it. Of course if you really can't find a place I have 14 x 14 foot wall that could be bare in no time at all (LOL). Oh, and great job with the orts. Thanks for joining the Totally Useless SAL for 2010!
