Christmas in July ~ Palestrina Stitch

Yes, it's Christmas in July!  The Palestrina stitch just looked like pine tree branches to me so here we are.  I used 6 strands of  DMC cotton floss for the branches, a thick pearl thread for the trunk in backstitch with staggered rows and 2 strands floss for the pot and the lettering.
I added all kinds of glass beads for the decorations and a metal snowflake as the star.
June 26, 1870 is when Christmas was legally declared to be a U.S. Federal holiday.  I wonder why they waited so long?
