First Tomato and Thrifted Treasures

This is our first ripe tomato and we will eat it in all it's juicy goodness with dinner tonight. I am making a pork roast with potatoes and carrots in the pressure cooker. The meat will be fork tender and juicy that way and will be done in under an hour! I don't know which sounds better, the roast or the tomato. We also have another one just about ripe and a bunch of green ones.
This is my thrifted treasure I found today. There are actually 2 runners and you're seeing only 1/2 of one. They are done with ribbon embroidery on natural linen with drawn work . So very lovely that I can't believe someone would get rid of them. Ah well, it's my gain and at $4 it was a real steal. I have done some ribbon embroidery and know how much work goes into it. I have also done drawn work and know how painstaking that is as well. These will grace Nana's curio cabinet and possible the coffee table trunk in the living room. These two lacy doilies were 10 cents each! How could I not get them, I ask? I so appreciate hand work, especially crochet and tatting which I don't know how to do. These are so finely wrought, I hope some lady didn't go blind making them. They will probably find homes in the bedroom.

And this is a $2.75 stack of 12 embroidered napkins. Plain cotton, but so prettily done. They will keep for special family dinners and such, to go with Nana's silverware.
These kinds of treasures inspire me to create like things to put in my etsy shop, so maybe one day soon you'll find some embroidery there done by me. Right now I am enthused by blackwork and just got a couple of books so I will be trying my hand at that. Amidst the knitted dishcloths...and jewelry...and soaps...and.......... you know it never ends with me.
