A New Landscape

This is the street down the center of my new town in north central Texas.  It's a small town where most things are closed on Sundays and close early on Fridays so everyone can go to the HS ballgames.

I'm really enjoying the more laid back atmosphere, the slower pace of life and the friendliness of regular people who don't have agendas.

I can't find the cord to my camera so these photos are off the internet.
With winter coming this is pretty much what the landscape here looks like.  It's right at the edge of prairie and looks like the quintessential Texas you see in the old western movies.
Lots of mesquite trees and cactus thanks to the cattle drives many years ago that planted the seeds.
There are lots of ranches out here and lots of oil wells.  Lots of open land between the occasional houses once you are out of town.
There is no traffic to speak of and front door parking most places.  It's a place where folks remember your first name.
